Job Description:
GI Lab (Unscheduled, Day Shift) -

The Endoscopy Technician-One (1) provides technical support to the
physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; works under
the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Assists with
all types of Gastrointestinal (GI) procedures, cleaning, high level
disinfection, and basic troubleshooting of endoscopes and accessory
equipment following policies, protocols, techniques, and
guidelines. Performs unit secretarial and clerical aspects of
patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse as needed.
Meets qualifications and competencies as identified in the
department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Utilizes interpersonal
skills to maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient
care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation
among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.
Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred.
Minimum one year of GI Lab experience preferred. Basic Life Support
(BLS) certification required.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional
quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to
the position; troubleshoot patient care/office equipment necessary
to the position. Able to relate and communicate positively,
effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and
consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and
respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach,
and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively
in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; perform
basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively;
organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem
solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to
detail; work independently with minimal supervision; knowledge of
medical terminology required. Understanding of computer software
and applications necessary for the position. Able to distinguish
colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for
general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and
distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see
adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary
to the position.
