UH: Outpatient Surgery Center Perianesthesia (Full-Time, Day
Shift)-

The Perioperative Technician, Pre and Post Operative/Procedural
Areas, performs designated direct/indirect, age-specific, and
developmentally appropriate patient care under the direct
supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Follows policies,
protocols, techniques, and guidelines. Meets qualifications and
competencies as identified in the department-specific Plan for
Providing Care. Assists with care and maintenance of equipment and
supplies. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer
service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service
and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring
and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient
population. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and
LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum six months nursing
assistant experience or perioperative experience preferred. Basic
Life Support (BLS) certification required; Certified Nursing
Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional
quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to
the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment;
perform basic patient care activities using proper body mechanics
and safety precautions. Able to relate and communicate positively,
effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and
consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and
respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate; accept
direction. Able to communicate effectively in English (and Spanish
preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone; follow
directions; perform basic math functions; manage multiple
assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work
well under pressure; collaborate with RN to problem solve; recall
information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; function
within scope of practice. Able to distinguish colors, hear
sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the
telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with
the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical
records, and written documents necessary to position; discern
temperature variances through touch.
