this job, you will be responsible for developing engineering scope
for distribution system upgrades, providing technical mentorship to
planning and operations personnel, perform generation
interconnection studies, and provide customer support. The
Distribution Engineer 2 will support the North Rural Distribution
Engineering Team. You will chip into the development,
interpretation, and application of existing/new engineering
standards and designs. Your work will help power our planet, reduce

- Develop detailed Distribution Engineering analysis and studies
required for grid projects, programs and initiatives
- Identify and plan new circuitry
- Engage in distribution automation programs
- Develop Wildfire Mitigation and Infrastructure Replacement
programs
- Support prioritization for new distribution projects
- Develop flexible short - and long - range plans to meet
corporate reliability and system performance goals
- Assist in developing the capital budget targets
- Perform detailed analysis and sponsor projects to integrate
Distributed Energy Resources
- Identify infrastructure improvements to reinforce and modernize
the Distribution Grid
- Provide technical support and delivering technical
presentations to internal and external customers as subject matter
experts for various programs and initiatives
- Provide resolution to sophisticated or novel system problems
such as customer claims, power quality issues, and power delivery
problems.
- Provide training and guidance on programs and initiatives to
Districts and other collaborator groups Qualifications
The essentials
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Two (2) years of Engineering experience The preferred
- Three years of Distribution Engineering or System Planning
experience
- Utility distribution, planning and operations
- Experience with power system transmission or distribution
analysis tools such as OMS, DMS, EMS, and CYME or other similar
software
- Power system engineering analysis including knowledge of
applicable laws, standards, codes, and analysis software such as
CYME
- Grid resiliency and modernization experience
- Preparation of detailed engineering studies and reports You
should know
- Workmode: Effective January 2022, this position's work mode is
Hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set
number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining
days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in
the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be
discussed at the interview stage.
