Job Description:
The Electrician position -maintains all electrical systems and
components under the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and
Simulations Maintenance Program (ATMP) contract at Fort Irwin, CA.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. - Job Duties:
- Performs functions required to troubleshoot, repair, and
maintain all types of electrical systems to include power
generation systems, emergency power systems including transfer
switches, uninterruptable power supplies, and air compressors used
within the confines of Fort Irwin Range Support Facilities.
- Installs, modifies, repairs, troubleshoots loads and tests new
and installed equipment, including secondary distribution lines and
circuits used to supply distribution panels, power control
circuits, lightning protection systems and grounding systems.
- Testing of all equipment including, but not limited to: AC and
DC insulation testing, High Current Low Resistance Testing, high
current trip testing, transformer ratio testing, circuit breaker
motion analysis.
- Troubleshoots sub panels to determine and correct load balance
on phases.
- Tests electrical circuits for resistance, current, and
potential difference.
- Accurately reads and follows blueprints, drawings, wiring
schematics, wiring diagrams, and other layouts and determines the
routing placement, type, size, gauge, balance load, continuity, and
safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment
and controls.
- Determines size, type and gauge of wiring coupling, conduits,
relays, etc., effects necessary repairs and modifications.
- Performs diagnostics to electrical systems while systems are
energized.
- Performs Lockout Tagout procedures to achieve a safe work
condition.
- Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, installs conduits
and splices; and connects wires to fixtures, outlets, switches,
receptacles, and power sources.
- Tests circuits and equipment using a voltmeter, amp meter, watt
meter and other electrical tools.
- Maintains and repairs complex electric wiring systems,
distribution panels, and outlet boxes.
- Provides management with detailed updates on system
status.
- Locates underground utilities utilizing locator as required for
dig permits.
- Applies knowledge of both single and three phase systems up to
480 volts.
- Understands and applies OSHA and CAL OSHA standards to ensure
safe work conditions.
- Safeguards and maintains assigned Government and company
property.
- Prepares work orders and maintenance records in a Management
Information System (MIS).
- Navigates established range roads and trails to specific
locations using basic navigation techniques with map/compass, GPS,
night optical devices when necessary, and radio communication
systems.
- Will be cross-trained to support other TADSS and may be
assigned tasks to support other ATMP contract equipment. Job
Requirements:Minimum Requirements:
Requires a minimum of four (4) years
verifiable experience in commercial and residential electrical
work. A certificate of journeyman status from a registered labor
union shall service as evidence of experience. - Must possess
knowledge in the generation of electricity. - Must be able to
safely perform all phases of electrical power systems maintenance.
Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all types of
electrical power systems and power generation systems and emergency
power systems including transfer switches and uninterruptable power
supplies. Must have a working knowledge of all types of excitation
systems, voltage regulating systems, load pulsing, and
compensation. Must be able to read and interpret schematics and
single line diagrams. Must have experience with troubleshooting and
repairing of electric motors. - Must have experience with
electronic speed control systems and electronic governing systems.
Must have working knowledge calibrating and troubleshooting all
electronic control systems. High School Diploma or equivalent.
SECRET Security Clearance and access permit to post by local law
enforcement and security agencies are required. Must be able to
obtain a Government Common Access Card (CAC). - Must possess a
valid Class C license, California driver's license and NTC Post
driving privileges. - Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs and
wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). - Within 90
days of hire, must complete a company driver's certification
course; be able to navigate in NTC's operational training area
under limited visibility and inclement weather conditions, and
demonstrate proficiency for all work tasks assigned. - Must be able
to read and understand manufacturers' manuals or technical
documents. - Must be able to work outside in inclement weather
including desert environment heat, cold, wind, and blowing sand;
must be able to work at height including helicopter flights to
mountain top equipment locations and elevated work areas. - Must be
a U.S. citizen. As a federal contractor you shall comply with the
