MC: Radiation Medicine Core (Full-time, Day Shift) -

The Financial Counselor 2 assists patients who are seeking
treatment in Radiation Medicine department to navigate through the
financial process from initial inquiry through treatment.
Contributes to all functions of the financial office including
functioning as a resource to colleagues. Verifies benefits,
eligibility and obtains authorization from payers. Obtains
pertinent documentation to support authorization requests.
Maintains ongoing communication with payers, primary care physician
and RN service coordinators as necessary. Creates and executes
financial contracts with patients and payers for both LLUMC
facility and LLUHC professional services according to LLUMC policy.
These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH
hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three years of
hospital-based registration experience specializing in Managed
Care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and California Children's Services with
emphasis on Federal, State, and County eligibility regulations and
Able to keyboard 35 words per minute without errors. Able to
read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality;
use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the
position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, ONCOChart, Aria,
CHAISE, IDX, Ascent, UGS and Passport). Operate/troubleshoot basic
office equipment required for the position; Able to relate and
communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with
others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure;
collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively
in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think
critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and
prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve;
recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail;
work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish
colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in
person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various
sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read
computer screens, and written documents necessary to the
